Southern Fried Chicken Livers

The livers are coated in a flavorful mixture of flour and garlic powder, then fried to golden perfection. Serve them as a delightful appetiser or alongside your favourite main dish.


  • 1 pound Real Good Chicken Liver, cleaned

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Preparation Instructions:

  • Rinse the chicken livers in a colander under cold water and ensure they are well-drained. Pat them dry with paper towels.

  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg and milk until well blended.

  • Combine the flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a zip-top bag. Shake the bag to thoroughly mix the ingredients.

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

  • Dip each chicken liver in the egg mixture to coat it, then transfer it to the flour mixture, shaking the bag to ensure it is evenly coated.

  • Carefully place a few coated livers at a time into the hot oil. Cover the pan with a splatter screen and fry until the livers are crisp and golden brown, usually around 5 to 6 minutes.
